Independent airborne pathway preparation

Regular versus Reserve pathways to P Company

Regular and Reserve paratrooper applicants do not share one simple civilian route to Pegasus Company. Understand the official sequence before buying preparation.

P Company comes after other training

The Army identifies Pegasus Company as the organisation running Pre-Parachute Selection for eligible Regular and Reserve personnel. It is part of a military training pathway, not an event that can be booked directly by civilians. An independent coaching provider cannot award admission or alter the Army's prerequisites.

02 / 05

Read the Reserve pathway carefully

The Army's Reserve paratrooper role information outlines staged military training before Pre-Parachute Selection and later parachute qualification. It is particularly important for someone approaching the Army for the first time: interest in airborne service does not mean that P Company is the next item on their personal calendar.

Do not transplant an old Regular timetable

A serving candidate's route depends on their unit and current instructions. Public articles and former soldiers' experiences can help with context but should not be treated as universal joining orders. Ask the relevant military contact which course, location and requirements apply to your circumstances.

Fitness preparation has boundaries

General strength, aerobic activity and recovery habits can be developed in civilian life with appropriate professional support. They do not recreate selection, override a medical decision or establish a pass probability. Serving personnel must follow unit staff and authorised training direction.

05 / 05

Compare the correct things

If you are exploring entry, first compare the Army roles and commitments. If you are already serving, clarify the specific official route. Only after you know your stage does it make sense to think about optional civilian education or coaching.

APPLY IT

A useful next step

Create two columns headed 'my confirmed Army stage' and 'my civilian preparation'. Do not place P Company on the confirmed side until the appropriate Army instructions have actually been issued.

These references support the published pathway or general safety guidance. An independent exercise is our own educational example; it does not reproduce military assessments. Check any changed requirements directly with the responsible authority.

A distinction worth checking before you act

Regular applicant versus 4 PARA Reservist

The Army publishes separate Regular and Reserve Paratrooper roles. The Reserve role includes modular preparatory training and subsequently a two-week Combat Infantryman's Course at Catterick with Regular Parachute Regiment P Company staff.

Why it changes your decision

Neither cohort should assume it has the other's sequence. Civilian employers supporting Reservists should use only the individual's confirmed training calendar, not an invented intake timetable.

Ask the responsible authority

Am I on a Regular or Reserve route, and which unit-controlled training steps have actually been confirmed?
